"Handa's Surprise"

This week the Year One's have been looking at the African story 'Handa's Surprise' which is about a little girl taking a basket of fruit to her friend's house. We have acted out the story, produced their own stories and had fun painting and tasting tropical fruits! We have been looking at maps and finding out which countries our food comes from.

We have had one pupil who wrote a song and we have been singing it. We hope to be able to perform it at our Harvest Festival.......

Down by the river where the trees grow and the apple trees grow,
Chorus
You wash 'em, you clean 'em
You send 'em to the shops.
Then you buy 'em, cook em,
Stuff 'em down your chops.

Down by the park where the oranges grow,
Chorus
Down by the farm where the carrots grow,
Chorus
Down by the farm where the spuds grow,
Chorus
Down in your garden where you could grow,
You wash 'em, you clean 'em
Then stuff them down your
ch..ch..ch..ch..ch...chops!!!
