We are having a blast in Year 1!

Wow it has been so exciting in Year 1. On Wednesday we were treated to a surprise! The Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has heard that we were learning about The Great Fire of London last half term and came to visit us! We had so much fun playing games and learning about how to stay safe! We even had a go at blasting the hose and looked inside the fire engine! Thank you for coming to visit us Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service!

We have been super excited about being real authors and writing our own stories this week in English! We used talk for writing to help us to retell the story of Little Red Riding Hood which gave us lots of ideas for our own stories!

We have really been challenging ourselves in our maths learning and solving missing number problems and division using sharing showers! We have all been super resilient and have been using lots of practical resources to help us learn.

We have been learning about lots of different faiths and religions during some afternoons in RE. It has been really interesting to learn all about how different faiths and beliefs are celebrated. We have learnt all about the festival of Diwali and got creative by making diva lamps! We also really enjoyed learning about Judaism and Hannukah- we were very lucky and were able to pass around a Menorah to closely examine it- this stemmed lots of discussion and questions about Hannukah.

Rabbits and Deer class have really enjoyed our science learning this half term! We have been learning all about animals and whether they might be: mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds or fish! We worked in teams to group lots of different animals based on their features.
